Migrating an operational railway from legacy signalling systems to new in-cab technologies can be fraught with challenges; and it can be daunting to determine which digital technologies offer real value to railway operations.

Signalling Design

Our specialists are experienced in conventional and digital signalling solutions, including European Train Control System (ETCS) and Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC).

We support suppliers to develop and assure signalling solutions using specialist assessment techniques such as Human Error Analysis, HMI / Usability assessments, and workload assessments. Our experience and knowledge of signalling technology enables us to assess the potential impact of trackside designs on operators in nominal, degraded and emergency situations.

We also support Operator Maintainers in the operational integration of digital systems. Typically, this will include Risk Based Training Needs Analysis (RBTNAs), organisation and job design, procedure development, and supporting change management and industrial relations.
