No longer accept ‘human error’ as a cause in risk assessments. Ask yourself ‘why is someone making that error and how can I eliminate it’?
Human Error Analysis
Traditional risk assessment techniques may identify human error as the cause of a hazard but stop before asking why someone has made that error. Human Error Analysis (HEA) allows you to identify potential errors before they occur.
As the name suggests, an HEA is focused on the operators, or users of a system. At Human Edge Consulting, we can identify potential issues ahead of time and implement controls to eliminate or mitigate any adverse consequences.
An HEA will identify the specific design features, organisational factors, or psychological error mechanisms that lead to someone making an error. This allows recommendations to target the root cause of that error. An HEA can provide highly focused, effective, and often simpler solutions than traditional risk assessments.
Our Human Factors experts can offer both qualitative and quantitative approaches to meet your project needs and best complement existing risk assessment and assurance activities.
